Introduction
Pub Kamrup College Philosophical Society was constituted in 1996. The Society is affiliated to the Assam Philosophical Society of which the Head office is at Philosophy Department, Gauhati University.

Aims and Objectives
The Pub Kamrup College Philosophical Society is formed with a view to create a philosophical and moral consciousness amongst the students of the college so that they may be the human resources of this society and the nation as well.

Members and Office Bearers
1. All major students of Philosophy Department of Pub Kamrup College are the primary members of the society.
2. Membership is open to all willing general students of the college also.
3. There will be an executive committee with following bearers:-

(i) President
(ii) Working President
(iii) Two Vice Presidents
(iv) One General Secretary
(v) Two assistant general secretaries- one from boys and one from girls.
(vi) Two organizing secretaries –One from boys and one from girls.
(vii) Six Members

HOD of Philosophy department will be the president. One of the senior faculty member of the department will be the working president and two faculty members will be the vice presidents.

Function
To actualize the aims and objectives of the philosophical society, the philosophy department will emphasize upon the value base education. Accordingly the society decides to organize atleast one seminar on the subject related to present social problems. An essay competition will also be organized by the department amongst the students in general every year on the topic selected for the seminar. Three prizes will also be awarded in kind (i.e.-books) by the faculty members of the department to the first three essays in order of merit.
